General Affairs and Accounting Employee Interview

General Affairs & Accounting Dept. and Sales Dept.

Q. Why did you join the company and what was your career path after joining?

I joined the company 25 years ago as a new graduate right after graduating from high school. At that time, there were two senior employees in the office, and they were 15 to 20 years apart in age. I learned most of my work from them. Thanks to them, I was able to solidify the foundation of this job within a year or two of joining the company, and I think that has led me to where I am today.

Q. What are the difficulties, rewards and interesting aspects of your job?

As an accountant, I am especially busy during the purchasing season. I have to deal with a huge amount of documents. I feel a sense of accomplishment every year when I finish compiling the documents and settling the accounts from October, the month of purchasing, to the end of the year, when I have settled all the accounts with the farmers.

On the other hand, the most rewarding part of being a salesperson is when you make a proposal to a customer, and the proposal is accepted and leads to an order, and the inventory is cleared. This kind of interaction would not be possible if I did not have the trust of my customers over the years.

Q. What are your future goals and what do you want to do?

I have a little more than 10 years left before I retire. I would like to use the time until my retirement to do my job well in this office and to pass on the work of general affairs, accounting, and sales to my juniors. After that, I’d like to try my hand at field work. You have to have an eye for apples, after all. I feel that if I can enter the field based on my experience in the office, the future will be even more connected beyond that.

Q. What made you decide to join the company and what kind of career have you had since joining?

Previously, I worked as a clerk at a hospital and as a telephone operator at a mail-order company that handled tools for carpenters. I applied to our company in search of an environment where I could work as an employee and raise my three children at the same time, while utilizing my skills in clerical work and customer service on the phone.

Q. What are the difficulties, rewards and interesting aspects of your job?

I support the company’s backyard as a general manager and accountant, and the president first gave me a lecture about the company and taught me the whole picture of the company’s flow.

I’m the type of person who is naturally very curious and enjoys learning about the world that I don’t know. I was just amazed.

I just joined the company, so I’m still struggling to learn my job, but my seniors always have data such as sales and the quantity of apples in their minds, and they are working while looking at the company in numbers. I would like to work hard so that I can do the same kind of work as my seniors.

Q. What are your future goals and what do you want to work on?

I feel that learning new things is beneficial for me as it broadens my vision. I would like to continue to learn what I don’t know and improve my skills.

I also feel reassured by the presence of Ms. Kimura, who joined the company in the same year. Mr. Kimura is the complete opposite of me in character. I would like to support each other in areas where we both lack. We are both working on balancing work and child-rearing, and I hope we can grow together while supporting each other in balancing work and family.
